Benjamin Milam Elementary is located on federal government property and thus the design standards not only had to conform to typical District standards but also had to comply with standard government regulations. The project consists of a two-story classroom addition to accommodate 18 classrooms, a science room, a computer lab and restrooms for both faculty and students. The existing kitchen will be expanded to accommodate an additional 380 students and all kitchen equipment will be replaced with new equipment. The interior of the library is being updated to include new shelving and new finishes to complement the existing interiors.
